About

My father was a school teacher and our mom didn’t work outside the home when my younger brother and I were young. This gave us the opportunity to travel all summer. And travel we did. We started off camping in a tent, and gradually worked up to a tent trailer! Seemed like luxury. We started in our home province of Manitoba and then eventually criss crossed this vast county of Canada eventually visiting every province except Newfoundland.  And we almost got there but for a strike by the ferry workers.

I’m so grateful that those travels instilled in me a love of exploring and finding out just what is around that next corner. Now in my 60’s, travel is one of the passions of my life. My theme song could be Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again”.

So far I’ve visited 11 of 13 provinces/territories of Canada, 38 of the United States, 39 countries, and 5 continents.

I retired from active employment in 2014, and have loved having time to focus on travelling and making healthy choices in eating and working out. And I am so thankful to have our cottage on Pike Lake to spend time at over the summers.

In 2018 the most wonderful of all my adventures started.  I became “Gram” to Ben. The joy his birth brought to my heart is difficult to explain or even comprehend. But it was duplicated in 2022 when he became a big brother to the happiest baby in the world, Amelia (Millie). Those two make it difficult to leave even for short adventures. The silver lining of the pandemic is the amount of time I’ve been able to spend with Ben, Millie and their parents.
